The word “noctilucent” means “night shining” and is a special type of cloud, as shown in the photo above. It only appears very rarely in summer and reflects the light of the sun from below the horizon. They are the highest clouds, at the edge of space and might be triggered by meteorites hitting the Earth’s atmosphere.

Noctilucents, the plural of noctilucent, is meant to be those that shine at night.
